THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Shari’ah and Law (FSL) (previously known as the Institute of Shari’ah and Law) was established on 11 August 1999 in order to strengthen the legal and judicial system of the Maldives by producing suitably qualified legal and judicial personnel and to improve the capacity of personnel working in the legal and judicial area in the country.

The primary functions of FSL include developing and conducting courses relating to education and judicial training in Shari’ah and law at various levels. These include continuing legal and judicial education for lawyers and judges. FSL also aims to conduct short-term courses on Shari’ah and law for government officials, the business community and the general public.
